BASINGSTOKE and North Hants are involved in cup and league action for the second weekend running.
They start tomorrow with a trip to High Wycombe in the Home Counties League, followed on Sunday (1pm) by the second round of the National Clubs Championship when Falkland are the visitors to May's Bounty.
Batsman Andy Giles returns to the line-up for the High Wycombe trip which should be tough. The reigning league champions beat Basingstoke by eight wickets in the corresponding fixture last year.
High Wycombe did not start their season well, however, only drawing with normal basement side Radlett.
Basingstoke lost their opening game against Slough but then recorded a crunching win in the National Clubs Championship on Sunday at Hungerford.
The Nurse brothers, Lee (88) and Dean (unbeaten on 73), led the way in a total of 319-4 off 45 overs, while Ross Hunter 43 and Ian Maynard 36 also chipped in.
The home side from the start refused to chase the target and finished on 140-7.
Chris Chandler took two wickets and there was one apiece for Jon Govett, Keith Harris, Mitchell Stokes and Keith Harsham.
Skipper Harris said: "It was good for our batsman to have plenty of time in the middle and everyone got to bowl - so it was a good workout and can only help us this weekend."
This Sunday, Hunter is unavailable so Giles will keep wicket in an otherwise unchanged side.
A young Basingstoke V side accumulated 174 runs in division 7a of the Thames Valley League at home to Bagshot III. The visitors were in trouble at 12-6 but rallied to hold out for a draw.
Basingstoke breezed through the first round of the Portman under-15 national clubs championship.
Skipper Luke Harding asked Castle Field visitors Yateley to bat first and his decision was rewarded when the side were bowled out for just 21.
Opening bowlers Jonathan Bradley and Grant Rouse removed the top five batsmen for eight runs. The second five went for the addition of just 13 runs.
Fawed Amin took a hat-trick with the only three balls he bowled to end the innings.
Openers Harding and Craig Williamson knocked off the meagre total without loss.
