ALL-ROUNDER Ben Hazell won five of the 17 titles Basingstoke and Mid-Hants collected at the Hampshire track and field championship at Portsmouth.
He produced a five-star performance in the under-20 men's category to win the 110 metres hurdles, long-jump, javelin, pole-vault and shot. His winning time in the hurdles was 15.24sec and his leap in the long-jump was 6.41m.
He cleared 3.60m to win the pole-vault and throws of 46.36m and 12.21m were enough to make him javelin and shot champions as well. He also finished third in the high-jump, clearing 1.80m.
Clubmate Jonathan Elderfield also took an under-20 title, winning the triple-jump with a leap of 11.91m, while Andy Blow collected two silver medals thanks to a time of 11.40sec in the 100 metres and 50.32sec in the 400m.
In the senior men's events, international sprinter Robert Tobin won the 100m in 11.26sec, just pipping clubmate Matt Still (11.32sec). Then Tobin won the 200m in 22:28.
The 800m also produced a Basingstoke one-two as Terry Feasey (1min 52.13sec) beat Steve Turvill (1:52.88). Feasey also finished second in the 1500m in 3:49.98.
The other senior men's winner was David Scott, who won the long-jump with a leap of 6m.
Among the under-17 men, there were two Basingstoke medal winners. Michael Jones (66.09sec) finished second in the 400m hurdles and Tom Saunders was third in the discus with a throw of 29.68m.
In the under-15 boys' events, Christopher Moreton won the 800m in 2:11.96, while Jamie Cole was third in the 80m hurdles in 13.01sec and Lewis Butler (10.74m) was third in the triple-jump.
Sam Sleap won Basingstoke's only medal at under-13 boys' level, finishing second in the pole-vault by clearing 1.60m. Basingstoke had two senior women's winners. Beth Harris triumphed in the 5,000m in 18:12.70 and Katy Watts won the javelin with 43.15m.
Helena Tobin picked up the silver medal in the 800m, finishing in 2:12.31.
In the under-20 women's events, Lisa Mulholland produced a double, winning the long and triple-jumps with leaps of 4.96m and 9.98m respectively. Gemma Hillyard cleared 2.20m in the pole-vault to claim a gold medal.
Thalia Laing collected two under-13 girls' medals as she won the shot with a throw of 6.83m and finished third in the 70m hurdles in 13.10sec. Lucy Bates finished second in the 100m in 14.04sec.
Lord Wandsworth student Marimba Odundo-Mendez produced a double in the under-17 men's category, winning the 100m in 11.07sec and the 200m in 22.44sec.
Overton Harrier Josh Bliss won the under-15 boys' 1,500m in 4:29.52.
Under-15 sprinter Rachel Harris, who competes for Andover, was second in the 100m in 13.01sec after running a lifetime best 12.71 to win her heat.
