ALMOST 300 key figures from the business community gathered in the Great Hall in Winchester to pay tribute to the contribution Hampshire companies make to the county's economy.
The event, which was hosted by Hampshire County Council's chairman, Councillor Peter Hutcheson, and leader, Councillor Ken Thornber, was attended by a wide range of companies which play an important role in increasing prosperity in the county - many of them award-winners.
Celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh, who is a deputy lieutenant for Hampshire and was guest speaker at the reception, toasted the success of Hampshire business.
Cllr Hutcheson said: "It was great to see such a wide mix of organisations represented at the reception. We would like to congratulate all those who attended, and the many businesses which contribute to Hampshire's economy and provide employment in the county.
"With one of our key aims being to improve economic prosperity in Hampshire, we believe we have an important role to play in supporting local businesses and helping them to expand and grow. We look forward to continuing to provide this support in the future."
Michael Foote, managing director of Segensworth-based company Microturbo, which overhauls, inspects and tests products for aircraft, said: "The event was an excellent opportunity to meet and share ideas with other businesses which are also striving for business excellence.''
Exhibition stands around the Great Hall provided members of the business community with information about some of the county council's business support services.
