TEAM Allans Marine produced a shock result in the first round of the Reel Care Teams of Four, as Longbridge produced an average of almost 50lb per man.
The sensational heat saw rank outsiders SAS and favourites Barneys Blacks join Allans Marine in August's final.
Fancied sides Sillybait Red, Bournemouth Lodge and Davis Angling all bit the dust, as the massive amount of fish took to the scales shocked everybody.
In the end it was Allan Watson's massive 133lb 14oz that sealed victory for Allans Marine, which was backed up by a tremendous performance on the canal by Lee Sears who weighed in 75lb 10oz. Boris Commons' 21lb 6oz and Terry Sears' 26lb 5oz put the finishing touches to the catch which saw the outsiders romp home with 257lb 3oz.
Allans Marine's winning weight was a new competition record. Fellow outsiders SAS finished second with 234lb, with John Holt 79lb 15oz, Marcus Page 68lb, Eric Chatfield 56lb and Mark Page 29lb 7oz all doing exceptionally well.
Favourites Barneys Blacks put in a solid team performance with all four members of the squad weighing in 50lb plus. Sillybait Red could not believe their 209lb 11oz was not enough to make the final and headed back down to the West Country without a place in the final.
Others: Bournemouth Lodge 189lb 7oz, Chichester 136lb 6oz, Davis Angling 121lb 6oz and Cormorants D 112lb 1oz.
Individually Allan Watson's huge 133lb 14oz of carp to 10lb from peg 22 on the method feeder and pellet saw a runaway victory. Bournemouth Lodge's Nigel Fitzgerald fished the method early and the pole late with worm on the hook to finish second with 89lb from peg 24. Colin Butler (Sillybait Red) was third with a huge 82lb 5oz mixed bag of fish from peg 28 on the pole. John Holt (SAS) took the heaviest weight from the canal for some time with 79lb 15oz for fourth.
Others: L Sears (Allans Marine) 75lb 10oz, M Page (SAS) 68lb 10oz, S Hemmings (Bournemouth Lodge) 67lb 6oz, B Sweeney (Chichester) 65lb 2oz, M Rogers (Barneys Black) 60lb 9oz and T Nibble (Sillybait Red) 56lb 4oz. The next round is on Sunday, June 22.
The final round of the Witherington Farm Teams of Four saw an outstanding performance by Barneys Blacks as they swept to a record points performance with three section wins and a third for 45 out of 48 points.
Poingdestres finished joint second on the day with Witherington Select both on 37 points with Carbotec fourth with 34 points. The final league table saw Witherington Select win their first ever series with 285.5 points from last year's champions Poingdestres with 280 points with Carbotec third with 276.5.
Individually Martin Rogers (Barneys Black) won the day fishing floating pole and pellet to the island on Cottage Lake to weigh in a massive 112lb 13oz of carp to 5lb. John Gray (Withies Select) was second with 98lb 6oz of carp also from Cottage, with Tony Gilbert (Beenies Boys) third on 92lb from Sellwood, while Dave Pool (Poingdestres) topped the weights on Topmoor with his fourth place bag of 66lb 12oz.
Hansford's Chalkie White scored back-to-back victories in the Stoneham Evening Series and the Cormorants Club Match at Greenridge Farm, Stoneham. White took 33lb 12oz of tench and crucians on the pole and corn from peg 27 on the Dam to get the better of Kev Downer, who caught double figure carp plus tench and crucian for 31lb.
Dave Self finished third with a mixed bag of 30lb 6oz from the island while Mick Marsh continued his good run on Stoneham in fourth with 27lb.
At Greenridge White fished cat food on the pole on peg 15 on canal two to take 41lb 8oz of carp to 4lb, caught mainly in the latter part of the match, to win easily from Poingdestres' Pete Newman who took 33lb 8oz to the scales from peg 18 on canal two. Cormorants Team Sillybait's Ritchie Yeo was third with 28lb. Others: P Stride 24lb 15oz and J Banks 20lb 4oz.
South Moor AC held a match on the Lower Lake at Broadlands and Alan Symmonds take 41lb 6oz of bream and carp on the feeder with corn and caster on the hook from peg 23 to get the better of Nobby Hall.
Hall took 33lb of tench and carp from the margins on caster and pellet from peg 2 with Pat Murphy third with 26lb 1oz. Anglers averaged 15lb per man.
Bournemouth Lodge held their second Evening Series Match on tench and canal at Hordle Lakes where Chris Burgess was victorious with 36lb 15oz of small carp on the Monk on Canal Lake.
Burgess beat Jeff Charman who weighed in 32lb 13oz of carp to 8lb from the Margins on Tench Lake. Mickey Dean was third with 30lb 9oz of carp from the Tench Lake with Chris Albiston fourth with 29lb from the canal.
Wayne Little held his first match on his Abbey Lake at Milton Abbas which saw Rickey Clarkson take 50lb 11oz of tench from the Pump Pool.
