Round-the-world yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur will name the latest high-speed passenger catamaran to enter service with cross-Solent ferry operator Red Funnel next month.
The £2.6 million Red Jet 4 arrived in its home port of Southampton last week after being carried 'piggy-back' style on a cargo ship from Tasmania where the catamaran was constructed.
The official naming ceremony for the 39 metre-long Red Jet 4 will take place on Wednesday, June 18 at the Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight.
Built in Hobart, Tasmania the new £2.6 million vessel, will become a familiar sight in and around the docks as it links Southampton and Cowes. It is now to undergo a series of acceptance trials before the naming event.
Red Jet 4 will be the largest catamaran in the Red Funnel fleet and is designed to carry 277 passengers.
