James Ablett was the most disappointed of a big Hampshire PGA field when the first event of the season, the Barton-on-Sea Pro-Am, was abandoned because of high winds.
When the wind springs up the links course is traditionally tough, but when trollies began flying around last week, the organisers reluctantly called the players off.
This was not before Alresford left-hander Ablett had posted a very respectable round of one over par which he believed just might be good enough to win it! The tournament has been rescheduled for September.
