FORMER Hampshire amateur champion Chris Hudson has won the Corhampton Cup - last of the Hampshire Alliance's winter meetings.
Hudson and playing partner Ian Walton from The Army scored a seven under 64 for the four ball better ball medal. But they only won on countback from Rod Edwards (Lee-on-Solent) and Ken Mills (Alresford).
Southwood professional Hudson eagled the two par fives on the
front nine at Corhampton. Third place went to Hockley's Gary Stubbington and John Sneezum (Corhampton).
Allan Deucher (Corhampton) and David Farr (Alresford) won the amateur section with 65, two ahead of Harry Spooner (Corhampton) and Neil Stephenson (Swanmore) who edged out David Jupp (Royal Winchester) and Steve Kattenhorn (Corhampton) on countback.
Highlight of the afternoon's play was a hole in one from Waterlooville's Rob Giddings at the 194-yard fourth.
Allan Deuchar has been installed as the new captain of the Alliance with Kevin Saunders (Dibden) his professional vice captain.
