CAMPAIGNERS have pledged to re-ignite the protest against plans to convert an historic fort into housing.
The Fort Gilkicker Action Group led by Don Gordon has lain dormant for two years since the plans to build 17 luxury apartments at Gilkicker, near Gosport, were put on hold.
Now after the announcement by Hampshire County Council that the plans are back on track thanks to a new developer being found, the group is preparing to swing back into action.
Mr Gordon said: "We really didn't have any idea that this was going to happen but now it has we will have to start the protest up again.
"We simply don't want this tranquil, picturesque spot that people currently enjoy being turned into a development that will see traffic increased and the setting disturbed. It should be preserved, not developed."
The new partners in the project were confirmed as Try Homes, a company that specialises in developing sensitive sites.
