OVERTON Primary School teams have enjoyed spectacular sporting success recently.
The lastest triumph saw them contest a Daily Echo six-a-side soccer finals day at St Mary's Stadium, Southampton, as Basingstoke district winners.
Unfortunately, the local team found the narrow pitches didn't suit their expansive style and were losing quarter-finalists.
Only weeks before, Overton were winners of the schools tag rugby competition at the Overton Easter international FestOval.
They then followed up at the Hampshire Constabulary schools rugby competiton at Laverstoke Park where the Years 3 and 4 team reached the final but were then beaten by Ashford Hill and the Years 5 and 6 team lost to Whitchurch in the quarter-finals.
The rugby success has led to an invitation to represent Hampshire, as last season's county winners, in a big police competition in Liverpool next month.
