HEAVY rock is an ageing genre these days, but there's still a huge fan base and a dedicated press.
The old guard are going strong (think dear old Ozzy and his ilk) but lately some new blood has entered the arena (think The Datsuns).
Of that old guard, David Coverdale's Whitesnake are celebrating their quarter century in the biz with the Monsters of Rock tour, which comes to the BIC on Tuesday.
Six years since their last British tour, the distinctly hairy band have packed their Wash & Go and hit the road again. A Best Of Whitesnake CD and 25 Year Anniversary double album has been released to coincide with the tour. The BIC audience can expect to hear such classics as Here I Go Again, Walking in the Shadow of the Blues, Still of the Night and Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City.
More of a blues rocker and one of the world's greatest guitarists, Gary Moore is another monster on the tour. Material from his classic three million-selling album Scars will no doubt get an airing along with such classics as Still Got The Blues (For You).
Completing the monstrous line-up are Y&T. Formed in 1975, the melodic heavy rock band are led by the searing lead guitar and vocals of Dave Meniketti.
Dust off your air guitars - and rock.
May 13, Bournemouth International Centre. Performance: 6.30pm. Tickets: £30. Box office: 01202 456456
