HEALTH bosses at Southampton City Council have joined forces with the city's Primary Care Trust in a scheme which aims to crack down on poor health caused by inadequate housing.
The Breathe Easy campaign focuses on people - particularly asthma sufferers - whose bad health is made worse by their living conditions.
Research has shown that there is a link between ill-health and damp housing.
The new project will be based at St Mary's surgery in St James Street. Patients will now be able to complete a simple self-referral card which can be forwarded to the City Council.
The council will then arrange a visit from an environmental health officer, who will examine conditions at the patient's home.
