WITCHES and wizards was the theme of this year's Upper Clatford and Anna Valley May Fayre on Monday and youngsters turned out in force to compete in the model raft contest, duck races and treasure map competition.
Proceeds, which will be handed out to worthy local organisations, are still being counted - but are already close to the £3,000 mark.
Other attractions included magic shows, a raffle and an auction.
At Overton celebrations were held at The Lynch to raise money for HART Wildlife Rescue.
Activities included maypole dancing, a duck race in the River Test courtesy of the new owners of Southington Mill, children's games and May Fair bonnets.
The event was organised by Overton Action Group and master of ceremonies Ian Crombie said: "It went really well.
"The idea behind it was to get people out enjoying themselves and it was a great family day."
Among May Day activities at Hurstbourne Priors were fairground attractions, duelling contests with knights and a host of children's entertainers including a talented juggler.
