ROOKWOOD School pupils have achieved outstanding results in their recent drama exams.
More than 60 pupils from years five, six and seven were entered for the LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations.
Year five children were asked to choose two poems to recite, while pupils from years six and seven successfully attempted sight reading as well as one piece of prose and one poem.
More than 15 per cent of pupils gained coveted honours with a grade of 85 or more out of 100, while more than 60 per cent gained a distinction.
Every year seven pupil who entered gained one of these top two classes.
These tests are now recognised within the National Qualifications Framework, having recently been accredited as an Awarding Body in England by The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).
Headteacher Margaret Langley said: "These results are a remarkable achievement for all the pupils involved.
"They reflect the hard work undertaken by both the staff and the children to ensure excellent preparation for the examinations.
"We have always placed great importance on the study of music and drama at Rookwood and have been entering pupils for these exams for many years.
"I am delighted that the LAMDA tests have now been accredited by the QCA," she added.
