Who said St George's Day doesn't mean anything any more?
To young people dedicated to serving others, it means plenty. And to those who took part in the annual parade last Sunday, it was a particularly proud moment.
Chronicle photographer, Frank Riddle, was on hand to capture the colour and spectacle of the occasion as the young people paraded in front of the Guildhall and marched to the Cathedral.
Various youth organisations were represented at the annual parade and service including a large contingent from Scout, Guide, Brownie and Sea Cadet groups across the Winchester district.
Deputy mayor, Jean Hammerton, was on the Guildhall steps to receive the salute while hundreds of parents and spectators lined the route.
It was a day when you were proud to be English and proud of the young people of the city.
