Billy Mackenzie's motocross season has become a recurring nightmare.
The Scot who lives at Tichfield and rides for the Swanmore-based Dixon Yamaha team, sustained serious ankle injuries in a heavy fall at the Grand Prix of Europe in Germany..
Just last month Mackenzie dislocated a shoulder and broke his nose at the last of the 125cc World Championship events. This time he went down during free practice at Teutschenthal Halle track.
The accident occurred when on a fast track and in high winds, he overjumped an airborne section, landed heavily and caught his foot on the ground where it was dragged under the footrest, dislocating some bones.
Yamaha team manager Steve Dixon said: "Billy has had his fair share of bad luck and injuries but he feels this is the worst so far. We would like to try and race at the British Championship at Hawkstone Park on Sunday, but a decision won't be taken until he sees his doctor."
Another Yamaha rider Mark Jones qualified for the 250 Grand Prix and finished 24th.
