SWINGING sounds are on offer at the Concorde Club, Eastleigh next week with a visit from the bizarrely-named 9;20 De-Luxe.
Composed of ten musicians, the band was formed in 1998 and has established itself as one of the UK's top swing outfits, with rapturously-received gigs at The 100 Club, Jitterbugs and The Cotton Club.
Founder member and current band leader Pete "Slim" Long cut his teeth in the National Youth Orchestra and saxophone quartet Itchy Fingers, playing with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea and Supersax.
Today, he also leads Echos of Ellington and is working with Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and the BBC Radio Big Band.
Recently, he provided the oboe intro on Stereophonics' version of Handbags and Gladrags - used as the title song of hit comedy The Office.
You can see the band at the Concorde Club on Wednesday, May 14. Tickets cost from £9. Box office: 023 8061 3989.
