A POPULAR cafe which provided sustenance for library and art gallery visitors has reopened in Southampton with a new international flavour.

Fountains Cafe - off the central library and city art gallery foyer in the north block of the city's Civic Centre - specialises in authentic world cuisine.

It opened on Saturday to mark Europe Week.

Dishes from Greece, France, Italy, Spain and Britain will be available to celebrate the week.

The cafe will also offer a full English or continental-style breakfast from 8am on weekdays.

New operator Haider Al-Hussaini who has cooked all over the world, brings a wealth of experience as a chef to his new role.

He said: "I am excited about this new venture.

"The food will put the emphasis on freshness of ingredients and simplicity."
