A FOURTEEN-year-old cyclist was fighting for his life in hospital after being caught in the aftermath of a two-car collision in Eastleigh's Stoneham Lane.

The boy from the Swaythling area of Southampton suffered serious head, leg and arm injuries in the crash which happened at 1.10pm near the entrance to Eastleigh Football Club last Sunday.

An Eastleigh police traffic spokesman said the youngster was in a coma in intensive care at Southampton General Hospital. Police are not naming him at this stage.

The accident happened when a Peugeot 206 driven by a 27-year-old woman from the Portsmouth area was in collision with a red Renault Clio driven by a 23-year-old female from Bedfordshire.

Police said the Clio crossed the road after the initial collision and collided with the cyclist. There were passengers in both vehicles but no one from the cars was injured.

A PEDAL cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car on the A27 at Chilworth.

Police said the 42-year-old man from Southampton was receiving treatment at Southampton General Hospital.

He suffered serious injuries when his bike was in collision with a red Ford Fiesta on the A27 near the Science Centre road junction at about 11.35am on Sunday.

Police said the Fiesta was travelling towards North Baddesley when it was in collision with the cyclist, who was travelling in the opposite direction.

The car driver, a 19-year-old man from North Baddesley, suffered minor injuries and was also treated at hospital.
