Critically and commercially acclaimed Welsh quintet Funeral For A Friend end their UK tour at the Joiners on Wednesday. The band Ryan Richards (drums), Kris Roberts (guitar), Gareth Davies (bass), Darren Smith (guitar) and Matt Davies (vocals) released their new EP Four Ways To Scream Your Name last month.
Their music is described as a hybrid of emo, metal, post hardcore and punk. They came to the attention of the public and the music press last spring. Their first EP Between Order And Model secured them with numerous live slots, including the inaugral Kerrang Weekender.
They also recorded exclusive sessions for the Radio 1 Rockshow, XFM, Muisc Choice and Total Rock. They were voted third best new band in Rocksound's 2002 Readers' Poll.
With a reportedly individual and poignant blend of aggression and melody, they are definitely one to catch.
May 7, Joiners Arms, Southampton. Performance: 8pm Tickets: £7 on door, £6 in advance. Box office: 023 8022 5612
