Southampton's Andy Morgan-Lee put injury and illness behind him along with the rest of the field to win the Marwell 10K on Sunday.
The Salford Harrier athlete battled with second string clubmate Simon Plummer of Southampton Running Club throughout the hilly course - eventually crossing the line 17 seconds in front.
Morgan-Lee's victory follows hard on the heels of a bad spell for the respected road runner who was forced to drop out of the Eastleigh 10k just weeks ago after becoming ill.
However, he looks to be back to full fitness after covering a five-and-a-half mile relay leg for Salford the day before Marwell's race.
The tough and undulating Marwell course meant most athletes' times were down but Lordshill Road Runners' Kay Harwood still managed to come home unchallenged to take the women's title.
Southampton Running Club claimed honours in the men's team event and Eastleigh RC's women were first in their section.
