IT was an evening of fine food, wine and dancing which raised more than £5,000 for four charities chosen by Fareham Mayor Pamela Bryant.
The Mayor of Fareham's St George's Charity Ball at Ferneham Hall on Friday proved to be one of the highlights of the mayoral calendar.
Money raised from the 250 tickets sold for the sell-out event and fundraising games on the night including bingo, an auction and a tombola, will go towards Cancer Research UK, the Leukaemia Research Fund, Naomi House and the Rowans Go-Getters.
Live musical entertainment came from the band Contrast and went down well judging by the numbers who showed off their quick step and foxtrot moves on the dance floor.
The Daily Echo was pleased to support the event with its very own table for Fareham reporters and specially invited representatives from three local charities; The Rainbow Centre, Kids and Fareham and Gosport Family Aid.
Fareham Mayor councillor Pamela Bryant said she was delighted with the event's success: "I want to extend my thanks to the Daily Echo for supporting the event. It was lovely to see.
"It was a great evening and the most important fundraising event of the year. Everyone enjoyed themselves."
Pupils from Wykeham House School in Fareham had spent the afternoon transforming the venue with colourful decorations for the occasion.
