WRITERS Past and Present is the title of a themed season of events at theatre Royal Winchester next month.
Kicking off the season on May 6 and 7 is a literary spoof boasting possibly the longest title in modern theatre - The Complete Lost Works of Samuel Beckett . . . As Found in an Envelope (Partly Burned) in a Dustbin in Paris Labelled "Never To Be Performed. Never. Ever. EVER! Or I'll Sue! I'll Sue from the Grave!!!"
The show consists of seven "recently unearthed" scripts supposedly penned by theatrical giant Samuel Beckett.
Slightly less bizarrely, travel writer Pete McCarthy relives some of his journeys on May 8, while actor Roger Llewellyn stages his one-man Sherlock Holmes tribute, The Last Act, on May 9 and 10.
Clive James and Pete Atkin talk about their adventures in the music business on May 13, and on May 17 Oscar Wilde comes under the microscope in Wilde at Heart.
Rounding off the season is Compass Theatre Company's production of The Winter's Tale from May 20-24.
