SOUTHAMPTON mapping agency Ordnance Survey is donating surplus computers to the city's General Hospital.
The 100 PCs are being given to the hospital to assist them with a range of administration tasks in the radiology department.
Although no longer used at Ordnance Survey, as new applications require new equipment, the computers will be of value to the hospital, saving money for patient care.
The hospital is close to the Ordnance Survey headquarters in Southamp-ton, and this is the first time that the mapping organisation has co-operated with its near neighbours in this way.
Jill Watling, head of desktop management at Ordnance Survey, said: "This one-off donation has been made possible by changes in the technological needs of Ordnance Survey. We are delighted to be able to help."
