EMERALD Colour are the real jewels in the Basingstoke Sunday League and are on course for a magnificent treble this season.
Having lost just two league games all season, they are well-placed if they win their games in hand to take the division one title - having finished runners-up last season.
Nine days ago the Emerald Colour-backed side picked up their second cup for the season when they beat league rivals Basingstoke and North Hants Cricket Club 2-1 in the Kelvin Cup final at the Camrose.
Experienced midfielder Brian Cook scored the opening goal and Gary Jones added the winner in the 80th minute.
Earlier, man-of-the-match sweeper Dean Robinson hit the crossbar.
A week before, Emerald, whose kit is sponsored by Luxonic Lighting, beat holders Ludgershall Sports 3-1 to win in the Andover President's Cup final.
They won the trophy the hard way coming from behind with Cook scoring either side of a Mark Fox goal.
The club has come a long way since formation in 1985 as Harriet Sports. They moved out of division seven in 1990 and the following year were division six top dogs.
Division five was won in season 1991-92 which also saw them pick up their first cup trophy as they won the Sunday Junior Cup.
By the time they changed their name to Emerald Colour in season 1996-97, they were now in division two.
Two years later they won that division and also picked up the John Ward Cup as well.
In the past two seasons, Emerald have finished runners-up in division one to Audeo and Kingsclere but it looks like the bridemaids could be the bride this season!
