A PUPPY that disappeared from a house in Hunts Common, near Hartley Wintney, may have been stolen, according to police.
Gina, a nine-week-old Norfolk terrier belonging to Ann Pern, 79, and her husband John, 85, had only recently been weaned from her mother.
She disappeared from an enclosed pen in their garden on April 11, between 5pm and 6pm
Pc Ian Hanson, of Yateley police, said two girls aged around 16 had been seen in the area around that time, one carrying a bundle that could have been the puppy.
Mrs Pern said: "I don't understand how anyone could do something like that, especially to a puppy that is so small."
Her husband said Gina had been fed a specialised diet for her age and breed, and that a change could lead to illness.
He added: "We are greatly saddened by her disappearance."
Pc Hanson said: "Stealing a puppy is quite a heartless thing to do and we are keen to catch these people."
The couple are offering a substantial reward, and the police would particularly like to hear from anyone who has recently bought a Norfolk Terrier puppy.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Hanson at Yateley Police on 0845 045 4545.
