IRISH singing sensation Cara Dillon will be entertaining at the Turner Sims Concert Hall next month.
The award-winning young star will be at the Southampton venue on Thursday, May 8, with piano accompaniment by Sam Lakeman and guitar and fiddle by Seth Lakeman.
Still only 27, Dillon has become one of the biggest critical and popular hits to emerge from the Irish folk scene in recent years.
After winning the prestigious All Ireland Singing Trophy when she was just 14, she went on to snap up some of the biggest industry awards going, including two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Hot Press Award for Best Roots Act.
A former member of folk super-group Equation, Dillon spent four years experimenting with different producers with Warner before returning to her musical roots in Ireland.
Her first, self-titled album with Rough Trade was a family affair, featuring performances by brothers, sisters and friend. A second, hotly-anticipated album is expected later this year.
Dillon was nominated by members of the public for the Audience Award in the BBC Awards for Music 2003.
The Turner Sims performance starts at 8pm. Tickets from £7. Box office: 023 9059 5151.
