PREPARATIONS for this year's Andover Festival Weekend are well under way.

The weekend will kick off on Friday 27 June with Walls festival funfair at the Walworth Sports Ground.

Special cut-price and discount rides will be available on a wide variety of family and children's rides between 6pm and 10pm.

On Saturday 28 June it's the festival carnival procession. Applications are already flooding in for this year's carnival and the demand for entry forms in each of the four categories is high.

However, there is no cut off line for the maximum number of entries, so whether you are on foot or vehicle fill in an entry form in the Midweek Advertiser and Andover Advertiser or phone John and Lynn on 01264 355910.

The carnival finishes near the Walworth Sports Ground, where there will be a free evening firework fantasia organised by Walls festival funfair.

Show day is on Sunday 29 June and this year's main attraction is the It's A Knockout competition.

The competition is a challenge between ten teams of up to 12 people representing companies, sports clubs and pubs.

There is a small entry fee but the successful team will win the It's A Knockout challenge trophy and a sum of £500 to be donated to the local charity of their choice.

There are still a few places available. Call Fred on 01264 889660 for more information.

Also at the show there will be the finals of an inter-school six a-side football competition, martial arts and gymnastics displays.
