A recruitment consultant from Totton is Hampshire's top Shell Livewire Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Steve Wyeth, 24, won the £500 first prize at the Hampshire final of the awards, which are supported by business Link Wessex.
Steven outshone other young entrepreneurs from across the county who have started up their own businesses and will represent the county at the south-east regional finals to be held at Brands Hatch next week.
"It's a great boost for my business and I'm looking forward to competing in the final,'' said Steve.
The judging panel scrutinised each finalist's business plan as well as conducting interviews to assess business acumen, potential and long-term business viability.
Hampshire awards co-ordinator Richard Smith of South-West Hampshire Enterprise Agencies said: "The judges were very impressed by Steve and his business has outstanding potential.
"His enthusiasm and ability make him a real live wire.''
Two runners-up prizes have also been awarded.
They went to Lucy Wilson, a jewellery maker from Southwick, and Carl Knight, owner of Sleeplessknights, an event management company from Andover.
On the judging panel for the Hampshire award were Laura Sturrock of HJS, and Antonia Shawley and John Dexter, business advisers at the Enterprise Agency.
