THESE youngsters from Eastleigh's Centrestage Productions Youth Theatre are feeling decidedly flat.

For they are in danger of not having a musical director for their next show-stopping production.

More than 60 young people, aged between 14 and 21, are due to take part in the show which will be one of the curtain raisers to the town's carnival week in August.

Being staged at The Point, it is called "Centrestage at The Point" and is a montage of snippets from West End famous musicals linked by fast and furious musical illusions.

With preparations already underway, CPYT chiefs have stepped up the search for someone to fill the musical director role.

CPYT director Pete Harding said they hoped to find someone to take on the task of assisting with the musical content before rehearsals started in June for the carnival show. He said they were looking for an enthusiastic keyboard player who could play as part of a band and importantly relate to young people and help them achieve good performance standard.

Mr Harding said that if a musical director could not be found the CPYT would have to resort to backing tracks to perform against.

He said: "As far as the organisation is concerned this will be a retrograde step as it sets great store on keeping performance live."

If anyone can help Centrestage in its search for a musical director they are asked to contact Peter Harding on 023 8025 4491.

Centrestage Productions Youth Theatre is a registered charity and was set up to give young people from all walks of life the opportunity to take part in well organised performance based activities.

It has been running for ten years and stages two major productions a year.
