THERE'S more to being a Scout or a Guide than earning your first aid badge.
Scouting youngsters from Southampton are proving their theatrical skills this week in the 46th annual Roverang show at the city's Nuffield Theatre.
The revue-style gang show features the talents of more than 80 Cubs, Brownies, Scouts and Guides from the Itchen North and South divisions and runs at the Nuffield until Saturday.
The two-hour show, featuring Scouts and Guides aged seven to 36, has been in rehearsal since October and is one of the biggest gang shows to take place in the area.
This year's themed Roverang, titled Stage by Stage, shows the Scouts putting on a production from first ideas to final performance and is packed with sketches and song-and-dance routines.
According to co-producer Mark Dowling, the Roverang is a major undertaking for Southampton's Scouting groups.
He said: "Putting on a professional show for a company with a small cast is hard enough. But when everyone is a volunteer and you've a cast of up to 90, it's momentous."
