WITH three nights sold out, Ferneham Hall running out of beer and hotels reporting brisk business, this year's Easter Festival has proved another big success.
Organiser Peter Chegwyn estimates the four-day folk extravaganza - now in its 12th year - generated an extra £250,000 for Fareham with visitors arriving from as far afield as America, Australia and Canada.
"This event is worth an awful lot to the local economy in terms of hotel stays, taxi fares, restaurant bills and ticket sales," he said.
"This year has been the best yet and even bands who have been coming back year after year have commented on how good audiences have been."
l Fareham council leader Sean Woodward has complained to the borough solicitor about fly posting by festival organisers. Yellow posters advertising the festival went up on town centre lamp posts and sculptures.
