It was a definite case of 'serendipity' when Hampshire couple Paul and Cecilia Taylor met financial growth expert Colin Moore of Armada Finance.
Serendipity Leisure, the firm behind Serendipity Sam's, the highly popular children's indoor party and play centre in Romsey, has opened its second site in Christchurch, creating more than 20 new jobs in the area. Managing director Paul Taylor explained: "The support from Colin Moore of Armada has been fantastic both in terms of funding and advice. Working with Colin has accelerated the growth of the business to the extent Cecilia and I still feel slightly shell-shocked at the thought of running two centres!"
"The first site in Romsey opened in 1999 and was so successful Paul and Cecilia were declared 'Start-Up Stars' in their year. Not surprisingly, Serendipity Sams was nominated one of the ten best new businesses in the country in a competition sponsored by Sky News, HSBC and the Daily Express. Successful entrepreneurs like this bring a welcome air of confidence to the marketplace where small businesses are suffering due to the lack of encouragement from the government," explained Armada regional manager Colin, who predicts the Christchurch centre will mirror the success of its counterpart in Romsey.
The 100 sq ft building situated in Reid Street next door to the well-known Peeks Party store has been transformed. Furnished throughout with stimulating equipment, Serendipity Sam's at Christchurch can entertain up to one hundred children from the ages of 0-11. The intricate murals, the impressive three-storey play zone and inspiring toy and clothing department have attracted many to sign up for their membership scheme that includes discount vouchers and free magazine.
