BOOKING a two-week break to Cyprus more than a year ago was all well and good for Saints fans Trish and Les Good - until they discovered they would be away for Cup Final day.

Having been on tenterhooks for the last few months while they watched their team get closer and closer to the final, the couple, from Duttons Road in Romsey, finally decided to cancel their trip in the sun after Saints' 2-1 win against Watford.

They have now paid out an additional £445 to go on the same holiday a week later so they can watch their red and white heroes take on Arsenal at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

Mrs Good, 51, said: "We had arranged to go on May 14. I tried to get a flight back for the FA Cup but they said it would cost too much.

"So I cancelled it and then booked another one for a week later. It will be worth it.''

Mrs Good has only been a Saints fan for the last couple of years, but Mr Good, 52, has been a supporter all his life and the pair both are season ticket holders.

Mrs Good, a production supervisor, said she and her husband, who were both at the semi-final on Sunday, did not hesitate to change their holiday when they discovered Saints would be in the Cup Final. She said: "I never even thought about it. I just thought 'Right, they're through, now I've got to sort it out.' We had got a good deal because we booked it early - it was about £500 for two of us for two weeks in Paphos, Cyprus, so now I've had to pay another £445 on top of that.

"We thought about it before, but we said we didn't want to do anything about it until after the semi-final - we didn't want to tempt fate. If I don't get a ticket for the final I will cry."
