POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two men in car approached a lone girl at a Hampshire bus stop and repeatedly asked her to get into the vehicle.
The petrified 15-year-old was rescued by a lady who came over to make sure she was
all right. The woman's action scared the men off.
They initially drove past the teenager - who was waiting at a bus stop at the roundabout end of Wildern Lane, Hedge End - in a black or dark green car and sounded the horn.
Then they returned and pulled into a lay-by opposite the bus stop from where the passenger shouted: "Do you want a lift home?"
The youngster said no but the man repeatedly asked her and then the driver got out, walked around the front of the car while asking her the question.
"Fortunately at that time a lady walked past and asked if the young lady was OK. This concerned the driver who got back in the car and drove off," said a spokesman for Hedge End CID.
"I would like to appeal for that lady to come forward or for any other witnesses who saw this to contact us."
The passenger is described as 20 to 25, of medium build, with dark brown hair, wearing a navy baseball cap, light blue denim jeans and smoking.
The driver was 20 to 25, of stocky build, slightly overweight, with a shaved head, wearing black tracksuit trousers with three white stripes down the side.
There have been no reported similar approaches in the area since it happened on March 25. Police have only just released details.
