MEMBERS of Gosport and Fareham Rugby Club take to the streets for a big parade this Sunday to boost the club's image and herald a new chapter in its history.

They will also be raising funds for an £800,000 new clubhouse at their Gosport Park HQ.

About 150 club members and youngsters, accompanied by a pipe band, will be seen on their way from Fareham by the mayor, Councillor Pamela Bryant.

They will be met at Gosport Town Hall by the deputy mayor of Gosport, Councillor Iris Binfield.

They will then march from Gosport Town Hall to Gosport Park for a fun day of activities.

Club president Martyn Webb said the parade was organised to raise awareness of rugby in the area and to emphasise that the club was a two-town organisation, as well as raise funds.

Demolition work started on the old clubhouse on March 12 and the new complex is hoped to be finished between November and December this year.
