ISLAND MP Andrew Turner is appealing for Island businesses to help in suggesting how the ever-increasing burden of red tape and regulation can be reduced.
The Shadow Trade and Industry team have recently appointed an independent team of Better Regulation Advisors with the specific brief to examine suggestions on how regulations can be improved or, if pointless, abolished altogether.
Mr Turner said: "I have written to the Island's Chamber of Commerce who campaign vigorously against excessive red tape by asking them to let their members know of the opportunity to bring pointless or excessive regulation to the attention of senior figures through the better regulation initiative.
"Of course, I would welcome the input of any Island business - or public sector bodies like schools - who suffer from these problems.
"We have a team of experienced figures from business and the public services who will focus clearly on how Britain is overburdened with red tape.
"Over-regulation drives down competitiveness and efficiency, and it is therefore important that they have examples from people with front-line experience of the impact of regulations in business, the professions and elsewhere."
