HARD-BOILED eggs took a beating in the New Forest village of Godshill near Ford-ingbridge yesterday.
Dozens of children launched their lovingly decorated eggs down Good Friday Hill in the annual race organised by the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre.
Among the rocking rollers was former Coronation Street actress Tracey Brabin, on holiday in the New Forest.
Seven-year-old Josie Charles, visiting from Somerset, was declared the winner after the race which left most eggs looking rather the worse for wear and totally inedible.
The Good Friday Egg Roll was hatched in the 1880s, died out after the First World War and was revived in the 1930s by Dr Aubrey Westlake, when he inherited the Sandy Balls estate.
