A HAMPSHIRE garden centre is at the centre of a major "coo" after a dove decided to DIY-it and build her nest in shelving.
Customers and staff were amazed to find the as yet unnamed bird precariously nesting with two eggs at the end of an upright roll of wire garden fencing, just above head height on an outdoor shelf.
Initially there were concerns that she would be scared away from her new home as it is in a busy walkway with heavily laden trolleys whizzing up and down and children on school holidays accompanying parents.
But this is no dove of peace and she has amazed onlookers with her complete lack of fear for humans and noise.
Just a few feet further down a thrush has moved into the walkway that has now been dubbed a "squalkway".
Chandler's Ford B&Q worker Tiffany Kelly said: "We have robins most years but this is the first dove that's nested here. They are supposed to be very private creatures not like pigeons but she is not concerned about people getting close to her at all and her mate doesn't seem concerned either.
"This is one of our busiest times of the year with Easter and there are a lot of children off school at the minute. We were a bit worried they might run around and scare her away but she hasn't even flinched."
The fencing that the dove is on is one of the store's most popular products with all other rolls selling out around her but staff have vowed to sell her perch only when she has vacated it - which could be some time with two chicks on the way.
