The fifth race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's spring series was held on Sunday and saw a south-easterly breeze of up to 22 knots and sunshine.
Class 1 IRC saw Gordon Appleby's Lightwave 48 Scarlet Oyster take line honours by more than five minutes. However, it was Kathy and Rupert Smalley's Laser 28, The Flying Fish, which won on corrected time by 31 seconds from Mike Garvey's X-332 X-Parrot with Scarlet Oyster third.
Overall in the series The Flying Fish leads by three points from X Parrot, and has won the series with four victories, providing a non-excludable disqualification is avoided in the final race.
The class 2 club handicap saw Pete Sanders' Dehler 41 Kraken take line honours by one minute 43 seconds. Steve and Wendy Flick's Manushi took corrected time honours by 12 seconds from Michael Hibberd and Ann Howard's Sadler 29 Zumbido.
Overall in the series Zumbido leads by four points from Urchin II.
In the multihull class, David McLeman's Dragonfly 920 Zoum! was first to finish and won on corrected time by six minutes. Overall, after five races and one discard, Scooby leads by six points from Zoum!.
