THE brilliant Paula Radcliffe stole the show, but Southampton City's Louise Webb grabbed her own slice of glory last Sunday.
The 12-year-old St Anne's Convent School student from Upper Shirley scored a runaway success in winning the Mini Marathon for 11 to 12-year-olds.
One of five Hampshire representatives in her age-group, Webb covered the 2.65-mile course in 15 minutes and 36 seconds, equating to six-minute miles.
She beat her nearest rival by 11 seconds and was the second fastest Hampshire runner in all three age categories (11-17 year-olds) and her time placed her in the top 25 runners out of 1000.
She received her trophy from rowing legend Steve Redgrave and Todd Carty, who played Mark Fowler in EastEnders.
Webb, now a Year 7, began running as a Year 3 pupil at Shirley Junior School. Her successes this season include wins at the Hants Secondary Schools' Championships, the City Schools' Championships and the South East Inter-Counties.
Nationally, she was 11th in the UK Inter-Counties and she also won at the Indoor Inter-Counties for Oxfordshire, Berkshire, the Channel Islands the Isle of Wight and Hampshire and in the B&Q Eastleigh 2K Fun Run.
