The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers, Lighthouse, Poole
TRIBUTES come and tributes go but this show, on its final tour and rightly billed as "the biggest party in town", keeps coming back to entertain.
Beginning with a cheesy, tongue-in-cheek "this show can't go on tonight" routine, the evening rapidly develops into a foot-stomping gig of the first order. All the performers are outstanding and it is hugely evident that they are enjoying every moment of their performance.
Originating from the warm-up routines on the Seventies American Saturday Night Live variety show, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd have now spawned a cult following.
Mark Lawson as Elwood and particularly Brad Henshaw as Jake are fabulous exponents of the genre, superbly supported by the harmonious Bluettes backing group and a terrifically talented band.
With side-swipes at country and western and even a blues version of Rolf Harris's Two Little Boys, there is plenty of comedy, but the highlights of the evening are the true blues classics.
Will this be the last tour? Watch this space!
