SKETCHES inspired by musicians who have performed at Southampton's Turner Sims Concert Hall go on show at the popular music venue next week.
Retired schoolteacher and graphic artist Barry Davies has attempted to catch the movement and excitement of his favourite classical performers in his pictures, on show at the Turner Sims from April 24-May 17.
"I have been an eager supporter of the Turner Sims Concert Hall for several years. Being a compulsive sketcher and fanatical classical music lover, I have drawn many of the visiting musicians just for fun," explained Barry, 66, from Southampton.
"The drawings are a spontaneous expression of what I feel when hearing this wonderful music and I hope concert-goers will take the same pleasure looking at them as I did when drawing them."
Barry began sketching the musicians he was watching on a programme and was so pleased with the results that he suggested an exhibition to the Turner Sims.
This is his second exhibition at the Turner Sims.
The exhibition can be viewed in the Turner Sims foyer during normal opening hours (Monday-Friday, 10.30am-5.30pm).
