BANISTER PARK carried off the Hamblin Trophy with a 61-47 victory over Atherley in the indoor competition for outdoor clubs at Riverside.
George Churcher's rink were the Banister Park heroes with a 26-14 win against Roger Stonham. Ken Foulkes (20-18 against Chris Hayes) backed Churcher while Steve Whitehead drew 15-15 with Atherley's Barry Littlewood.
Rod Prew snapped up two titles during the Riverside club championships. He made his first appearance in the singles final a winning one by beating Micky Byrnes 22-19 and teamed up with Margaret Sweetman and skip Richard Moore to land the mixed triples 19-12 against Mary Heard, Dennis Fowler and Jim Heard.
Like Prew, Christine Branton was also in her first singles' final and she captured the ladies' title 21-14 against Janet Williamson. The two finalists, however, were runners-up in the pairs losing 21-18 to Joyce Hamblin and Christine Doig after an extra end.
Byrnes still finished as a winner as he and Roy Evans took the pairs 31-14 against Tom Branton and David White while the mixed pairs went to Olga Scott and John Farley who outgunned Rita Meacher and John Maskell 19-16.
