Winchester Photographic Society's 70th annual exhibition was opened at the Guildhall Gallery by Bill Flood, president of the Southern Photographic Federation.
Society president, Carol Watson, said there had been over 1,000 entries, from which the judge had selected 493 prints and slides for display.
Trophy and certificate winners were announced by Philip George, the competition secretary, and presented by Mr Flood.
In the members' classes, the Challenge Trophy for a set of three prints, was won by Don Bradshaw. In second place was Carol Richardson and third was George Walsh.
The Hampshire Chronicle Bowl, for a Hampshire landscape, was won by Alex Fyfe, who also took the Pyne Medal for the best portrait.
In the same monochrome class, Graham Dew won the Coronation Plaque for the best print.
The Wykeham Cup, for the best colour print in the Novice Class, was won by Paul Chandler and the Murla Trophy for the best monochrome print went to Tim Spencer.
In the advanced colour class, the DJ Cup for the best print was presented to Barbara Lambert for the second year running.
In the slide classes, Philip George was winner of the Ronald Toms Trophy for best slide and the Pendreigh Trophy for a Hampshire Landscape for the second year running. Barbara Lambert also won the Duma Trophy for natural history and the Florence Wilcocks Trophy - for a set of three slides. Zoe Smith was second and Rafael Pascual third.
In the open classes, the Jubilee Cup for the best monochrome print was won by Ursula Jeffree, from Southampton; the Spectral Salver, for the best colour print, was won by Sheila Read, from Salisbury, and the Walton Cup, for the best slide, was won by Roy Pickering, from Blackburn.
The exhibition continues until Tuesday, April 22nd.
