THE SUPERBIKES are heading for Thruxton on Sunday with Shane Byrne very much in the boss seat after extending his championship lead to 27 points at Snetterton last weekend.
The MonsterMob Ducati rider had to settle for second best to Michael Rutter in the opening race but romped to victory next time out as his title rival slid out.
Byrne took victory by nine seconds from Sean Emmett, while former champion John Reynolds completed a brace of seconds on the Rizla Suzuki who operate out of Verwood in the New Forest.
It was a terrific performance from Reynolds who is still recovering from a broken collarbone sustained in the first round at Silverstone just over two weeks ago.
A big Easter holiday crowd at Thruxton will throw their support behind Southampton's John Crockford in the British Supersport event.
Crock was a close second to Karl Harris in the first round but now has some catching up to do after retiring at Snetterton (see story opposite).
The man who lives in Bitterne has a great record on Thruxton, winning the Superstock event there two years running.
"It's my kind of track and the support I get there gives me quite a lift," said a smiling Crockford.
John McGuinness will be looking to build on his sixth place on the new Honda fielded by the Chrysalis Team from Southampton, and Hampshire's Jamie Morley is a genuine victory hope in the National Superstock event.
Racing at Thruxton gets under way at 12.10 with qualifying from 9am.
Adult admission is £8 with childen 15 and under, accompanised by an adult, getting in free.
