Pat Pearse this month celebrates 60 years as a member at Stoneham Golf Club.

Pat captained the ladies' section in 1970, served as their president between 1991 to 1994 and as a player scooped numerous trophy successes.

She was seven times Stoneham champion and after joining the Hants Ladies' County Golf Association in 1952, played in the county first team from 1962 to 1965 and was second team captain in 1972-3.

Pat ran the juniors in the early 70s before becoming assistant secretary for ten years from 1974, followed by five years as the ELGA representative for Hampshire. She was also county captain from 1977-79 and Hampshire president from 1996 to 1998

In recognition of her service to the Stoneham Club and the county, she was made a life member in 1991.

During the War the course was occupied by the Army and Pat still has her access permit that was needed to get out and play on it!

l Hockley women's success story continues as they won the Dudsbury Club's inaugural Legg Bowl.

Two pairs represented each club and Liz McCombe & Jennie Ray (1 up) and Pat Birch & Wendy Johnson (6 up) did the business for Hockley.

The three times Mail on Sunday team champions began their defence of the trophy with a comfortable second round victory over Andover.

Hockley also chalked up victory in the first round of the Knight Cup when Maggie Ree and Ann Judd lifted them to victory against Weybrook Park.
