BLACK cats at Stubbington Ark are having difficulty finding new homes because they do not stand out from the crowd.
Staff at the RSPCA centre said the loveable moggies make perfect pets - but get overlooked because of the colour of their fur.
Black and white cats are also being shunned in favour of more unusually coloured felines.
Manager Mike Ward said: "Many people prefer more unusual colours to plain black and often ignore temperament and personalities, which many black cats have in abundance to make up for their lack of dramatic colour.
"It can be quite disheartening to have so many lovely black acts in our care that would make ideal pets for the right owners."
Black cats being looked after at The Stubbington Ark include Sidney, a three-year-old who loves attention and ten-year-old Lily described as placid and quiet natured.
Anyone interested in re-homing any of the animals should call the Stubbington Ark on 01329 667541.
