KEEN to wear a crown for your town?
Romsey Carnival committee is hoping for a big turnout of youngsters ready to be royal at the selection meeting this week at the Comrades Club in The Harrage.
Candidates for Carnival Queen must live in the Romsey postcode area and be aged 16 or over at the start of Carnival Week on July 19. There are posts for two princesses and a prince who must be aged seven to ten.
Romsey's Queen will win £100 and her dress. Their little Highnesses will each receive £30 and their costumes.
Marjorie Kemish, carnival publicity officer, said: "During their year in office the Queen and her attendants can expect to see their photographs in the local papers and also on the cover of our carnival programme.
"They should also be prepared for a lot of fun during Carnival Week with the highlight being the Grand Procession on July 26."
The selection meeting is on Wednesday at 7pm.
