Nursling are the Premier Division champions - its official. And they did it in style, writes Rod Sutherland.
Sporting BTC were outclassed on the day and paid tribute to Nursling who thoroughly deserve their mantle.
A pair apiece from Ben Penfold and Paul Odam, with Malc Callaway also getting in on the act, secured a 5-0 verdict on the day and rekindled memories of the old Nutfield Club who won the Premier before they entered the County League.
The current side, virtually all local lads, have no such ambitions but the chasing pair, Botley Village and Mottisfont, have both expressed interest in promotion and clashed at Botley.
The home side took the honours 3-1 with second-half goals from Geoff Wright, Dom Newman and Gordon McKeen.
Elsewhere it was a case of a quiet first half and explosive second. Eastleigh Com defeated Brendon 4-0 but all the goals came in the last 15 minutes (Rob Burch 2, Andy Elliott pen and Justin Page).
North Baddesley thought they were winners, leading 1-0 through Andy Harrington, but opponents AFC Target had other ideas and Darren Walker equalised in the fifth minute of injury time.
Baddesley's Premier place now looks in jeopardy as Fair Oak managed a shock 3-1 win at BTC Soton courtesy of a Jonny White double and Paul Myburg. Baddesely must defeat Mottisfont and hope that Fair Oak lose their remaining fixtures.
