Hampshire's Justin Rose completed a more than satisfactory first US Masters tournament with his worst round yesterday.
Rose shot 77 over the treacherous Augusta National course to finish on a four-round aggragate of 297 in joint 39th place.
After a day of drama there was a new name on the Masters trophy as Canada's Mike Weir won at the first hole of a sudden death play-off against American Len Mattiace.
Mattiace carded a final round 65 to set the clubhouse target at seven-under-par, a total then matched by Weir after a 68.
The 35-year-old Mattiace from New York had stood on the 18th tee with a two-shot lead but made his only bogey of the day after driving into the trees to the right of the fairway.
